David W. Kazarian

David W. Kazarian, BSP, RPh, FASCP is the President of  Infuserve America, a Home Infusion Therapy Pharmacy, as well as The Kazarian Group a Consulting  Pharmacy Organization.

Kazarian took over the family business in 1970, when his father passed away.  At the time the business was a local corner drug store.  Interested in the Nursing home field, Kazarian actively cultivated a nursing home practice.  His one “corner drug store” soon became too crowded to serve two masters, so another pharmacy was opened to take care of the durable medical equipment and retail, corner drug store business.  The original pharmacy became a nursing home only pharmacy.  Shortly thereafter, Kazarian opened pharmacies in medical buildings.  At one point in his career, Kazarian owned medical building pharmacies in every medical building in the City of Hartford (that had a pharmacy in it)

Kazarian's DME pharmacy was well known for prescription service as well as diabetic supplies and ostomy equipment.  Diabetic training and education were performed on site, as well as at various hospitals.

Enterostomal therapists offered advice about ostomy supplies, and Kazarian’s pharmacy would see patients referred by hospitals to fit equipment.

Kazarian has served as consultant to numerous organizations and has been an innovator in both automation for the nursing home and drug delivery systems.   Years before pharmaceutical care was conceived, Kazarian practiced the principles of pharmaceutical care with the frail elderly in Connecticut .  Currently Kazarian’s consulting practice serves nursing homes, industry, the frail homebound elderly and the legal profession.

In 1974 Kazarian initiated the first computerized system for retail pharmacies.  He was featured in a broadcast by Channel 3 news in Hartford Connecticut .  He introduced automated medical records to the Nursing Home Industry in Connecticut , and lectured to the department of Health about automation.  Kazarian offered input to the  Drug Division of the Department of Consumer protection in Connecticut, changing laws to allow for automation.

Kazarian was the first “Retail” pharmacy in the State of Connecticut to install a clean room and offer IV pharmaceuticals.  He started an IV therapy organization in Connecticut , then years later moved to Florida and opened Infuserve America .

He has been an active member of The American Society of Consultant Pharmacists since 1973 when he joined, serving on numerous councils, task forces, and the board of directors.  Recently Kazarian served as President of the organization and Chairman of the Board of directors.  Kazarian has been active in consulting pharmacy since the inception of The American Society of Consultant Pharmacists and has been an innovator, not only in systems but in founding companies that service the long term care marketplace.

Kazarian's Computer system soon became a company called AutoScript, serving 110 pharmacies in New England before Kazarian left that company.  Kazarian’s knowledge of Automation and Pharmacy have allowed him to create his own computer system for Infuserve America, a home IV company that he is currently operating.  He also uses his “home grown” computer system in his consulting pharmacy work which identifies residents, their medication and any potential problems.

Kazarian has been asked to speak at many society meetings and has shared his insights on consulting pharmacy with the University of Connecticut and with the University of Florida where he spoke to many pharmacy classes.

Kazarian is also an innovated in IV Home care, founding two Home IV companies.  Currently Kazarian’s “Infuserve America ” serves patients  in the United States .   Kazarian lives in Clearwater Florida with his wife Dr. Nancy Kazarian, who is also a pharmacist.

Currently in addition to managing a home infusion therapy business and a consulting pharmacy organization, he sits on the board of directors of Medical Technology Systems, Inc.
